Potter & Company Philadelphia No. 617 Sansom Street This Family Bible is in good condition with Great detail on the front and back boards which are covered in gold. The original clasps are in good working order. The binding shows some wear but is firmly attached at the spine. The front and back boards have come apart at the edges of the spine however and with some proper reconditioning can be made back into the beautiful Family Bible it once was nearly 130 years ago! The original shiny silky swirly pages are in the front and back (not sure what they are called??). I did notice one page within the bible which had a tear in it. I also noted a small light water mark on the bottom of one of the pages in the front. A few of the front pages have come apart from the binding but are still present. The original tissue pages that protect the engravings are still in tact. Inside this Bible are some very special items that were saved by the family many years ago, including: Rose Covered thank you note, Many pressed Ferns between the pages as shown as well as a religous card, a piece of a religious note paper with numbers written on it and some other details on the family who this bible was presented to back in the 1800's, their marriage information, etc. As mentioned, the photo pages are blank and can be filled with your family photos!
