Description
Up for bid individually are 2 scarce George Kovacs chrome floor lamps. The bid is for 1 lamp, with 2 available. This Kovacs design is landmark in the fact that this was the first commercially available halogen lamp. The design dates to the late 1960's. The lamps stand 72 inches tall and are heavy and well made with top quality chrome plating. The lamps have had new pugs and switches installed for future safety. These are all original lamps and retain their wire mesh dome bulb covers. The chrome plating is in very nice shape with slight wear and light scratches. These beautiful lamps throw a nice pattern through the mesh grills. If the buyer is interested in having dimmers installed I would upgrade these for $25 each. This would make the original design even better with the ability to dial in a nice ambient amount of light from glowing to fill. These lamps do not show up often. The only pair I have seen is on a NYC mid century modern store/website for $1750 for the pair and they do not have the original mesh lamp covers. Due to the size shipping will run $59 by fedex for each.
