Description
Here we have an excellent shinshinto katana in excellent condition, new polish and NBTHK paper attesting to the quality and value of this sword, it has a very good cutting lenth of almost 29" a massive okissaki of 4" long a very high quality sword, here is some info about it, Koyama Munehira also known as Katayama Munehira was known to either be Koyama Munetsugu's father (some older books state this point) or his elder brother. There is also some discrepancy as to if there was a 2nd generation that also signed Isshinsai Munehira which is also a signature used by the so called 1st. Either way, he is a very well known maker coming from the famous Koyama Munetsugu school. In the Shinshinto period, there are only blades by this school that have the most testcut (saidan) signatures and their reputation for sharpness was unrivaled. Most tests were performed by the famous Yamada Asaemon (aka kubikiri asaemon-neck cutter asaemon).Even though this blade is unsigned, it shows all of the characteristics of those blades made by Munehira, down to the tang shape and file marks. The workmanship of the blade is very high with a nicely done gunome midare with ashi. Blade is done in the so called Soden Bizen tradition, and is most likey a copy done of a famous Bizen Kanemitsu from the Koto period. Its wide body with the addition of the very large point shows that this blade was modeled after those made during the Nanbokucho period. But, the lack of bizen hada, youngness of the hamon and no utsuri lead us to the fact of the manufacture time to be that of the Shinshinto period. Will ship world wideShipping fully insured in usa is $100.00.
