This carving is 100% genuine ELEPHANT IVORY and in EXCELLENT CONDITION.  It was HAND CARVED and HAND SCRIMSHAWED and SIGNED in China by a gifted master craftsman.  It has a lovely patina that nature has chosen to bestow upon it. This carving is UNIQUE and exhibits beautiful IVORY GRAIN which is guaranteed to be clearly visible.  The ivory has been highly polished and exquisitely detailed.  The quality of the ivory, the quality of the carving and the quality of the scrimshaw work are all exceptional. This carving was legally imported into the USA. This carving can only be shipped to locations within the USA.   WISE MAN holding a SCEPTER This magnificent ivory carving portrays a wise man holding a scepter and wearing an elaborate headdress.  He possesses terrific expressive facial features which are both kind and thoughtful.  He is carved in great detail.  Please note the wonderful high relief the artist has given to the garments that he wears and the subtle use of scrimshaw used to enhance this gorgeous piece. Please also note the hands where the artist has taken pains to emphasize detail by showing the veins in his hands and the fingernails as well. The ivory alone weighs a staggering 17 pounds!  He stands a towering 35 inches tall! The signature reads Qianlong referring to the 18th century emperor of that name (1736-1795).  It is engraved on the underside of this carving. This is a monumental piece from top to bottom. The quality of this lovely piece will make it a cherished addition to any  collection of outstanding Asian art.  It should steadily increase in value over the years.  The beautiful custom wooden stand is, of course, included.
