This carving is 100% genuine ELEPHANT IVORY and in EXCELLENT CONDITION.  It was HAND CARVED and HAND SCRIMSHAWED in China by a gifted master craftsman in the early 1900s.  It has a lovely patina that nature has chosen to bestow upon it. This carving is UNIQUE and exhibits beautiful IVORY GRAIN which is guaranteed to be clearly visible.  The ivory has been highly polished and exquisitely detailed.  The quality of the ivory, the quality of the carving and the quality of the scrimshaw work are all exceptional. This carving was legally imported into the USA. This carving can only be shipped to locations within the USA.    Spectacular Ship with 100 Passengers This is simply one incredible ivory carving!  It is without question the most gorgeous ivory ship I have come across in the last 50 years.  The amount of detail is absolutely astounding!  There are approximately 100 individual people on this ship.  There are people inside and outside and even people dining on this ship.  There is a phenomenal amount of intricate lattice work that permeates the entire vessel.   The intricacy is simply breathtaking. There are numerous lanterns that swing freely from their stations. There are two dragons and an intricately carved anchor at the front of the ship and two intricately carved rudders at the rear. It is really difficult to convey just how beautiful this piece is.  You could stare at if for hours and still not take everything in. On top of that this is a huge piece of ivory.  It is nearly two feet in length and nearly a foot tall.  It weighs almost 8 pounds! In addition the stand upon which it rests is a piece of art in itself.  The stand has been carved with many intricate waves meant to simulate the environment on which this ship was meant to sail. This would truly be a monumental addition to any collection of fine ivory carvings or any collection of fine nautical memorabilia and should surely increase in value over the years.
