Description
Interesting Double Notch, Mousterian, Famous Provenance DescriptionType: double notch on clacton flakePaleolithic Period, Industry: Middle Paleolithic: Mousterian / Mousterian in Acheulian Tradition (MAT)Dating: the particular site: ca. 55.000- 40.000 B.C Description: Size: length 4,2 cm, weight 23 grams Shape, Retouch: an interesting tool on Clacton flake: the large platform has an interior angle of more than 105 degrees. All edges of the tool present a retouch, but the most important are the notches. The fist one is made on the interior side, at the medial part of the long left edge. The second one is placed at the proximal part of the left edge of the exterior side. This edge presents, in addition to the retouch, a series of splintered use scars, well visible in the pictures. The pointed tip of the tool is retouched as well. Raw-material: gray flint Preservation: very well, no modern damages. Some matrix of the original site layer still adheres to both sides. It can be removed with acid, but we think it is a fine additional proof of authenticity Origin, Site: Le Moustier, the most famous Mousterian site in France We have been listing more interesting paleolithic artifacts, please have a look!
