Number of leaves: 153 leaves (306 pages); size: 20.4 x 28.2 cm; written surface: 12.6 x 18.4 cm; 13 lines to a page, in clear and handsome nask? script, in black ink on beige paper.  The text is vocalized throughout. The first 2 pages and last 2 pages are handsomely illuminated in red, green, yellow, and other colors. All headings of suras are written in red ink.  All verses are separated by a red circles.  All pages are ruled in several black lines.  Undated, but it was probably written in the early part of 19th century.   The decorations in this Koran are very similar to the decoration illustrated in ILLUMINATIONS: THE WRITING TRADITION OF INDONESIA by Kumar and McGlynn, pages 33 - 48.  The Koran is not complete.  The first is present.  It appears that also present are Chapters 16 – 109.   The last two illuminated pages are misbound.  They should have been somewhere in the middle.  Recent cloth, margins of many leaves at the beginning are repaired without loss of text, there is damp staining throughout, but text is quite legible, otherwise in good condition.   [Code:K214]   Buyer pays domestic shipping and handling charges of $12.00 and may return any item for any reason within one week of receipt, if not satisfied.
