DALĀ'IL AL-KHAYYIRĀT (Guide to Good Deeds). This is one of the most famous books of prayer in Islamic literature. 87 leaves; size: 11.5 x 16.3 cm; written surface: 5.5 x 10.2 cm; in beautiful, elegant, and clear naskhī script, in black ink, with keywords and markings in red ink, on beige paper, 13 lines to a page. The Arabic text is completely vocalized. All pages are ruled in two line of red throughout. Most sentences are separated  in gold discs.  The opening page and leaf 15b are illuminated in gold, blues, and reds and other colors.  Pages 13b and 14a contain two full‑page, miniatures, in gold and colors, one of them representing the Ka`bah in Mecca, the other the tomb of the Prophet Muhammad in the Medina Mosque. It was written by the master calligrapher Husayn al-Husni al-Aqshahri. One of student of Hafiz Muhammad al-Adirnawi.  Undated, but it was probably written in the eighteenth century.  Bound in brown morocco, with a flap in the style of Islamic binding, both covers are blind stamped with central medallion, rebacked, minor smudges, otherwise a very good copy.  For al-Jazūlī, see GESCHICHTE DER ARABISCHEN LITTERATUR, SUPPLEMENT, II, 359.
