Description
Yacht Endeavour 1, 1934Designed by Charles E. NicholsonAmerica's Cup Contender If you are frustrated by the half hearted efforts that produce low quality impersonations of much of what is available today, you are not alone.  It is becoming more and more difficult to find craftspeople that are capable and willing to make quality products at a reasonable price. We are very conscientious (anal) about what we sell and are proud to offer this meticulously crafted half hull of Endeavour 1.  This is a real Half Hull, not a carved block of wood.  It is actually hollow i.e. strip planked.  The back is signed and numbered. You will also appreciate the fact that it is  "Ready to Hang".   If you appreciate quality, I guarantee this Half Hull will make you feel good every time you look at it.  The rich finish will add warmth to any room and the beautiful lines are nothing short of sexy.  The woods used are teak, holly and mahogany. The plaque is  31" x 7.5" and the boat is  ~ 27.25 x 5 x 2.25.Contact us about custom Half Models.  UPS shipping  is FREE in the continuous United States. Sopwith for the 1934 America's Cup.   Mr. Sopwith was leader of British aircraft design. My favorite airplane is the Sopwith Camel, an interesting looking WWI  Bi-Plane Fighter. (We make an accurate reproduction of the Sopwith Camel Propeller.) Endeavour, designed by Nicholson, was the fastest and most beautiful J-Class Yacht ever built.  It is interesting that the fastest yacht did not win the 1934 America's Cup. Due to tactical sense and luck, the race was won by the Americans with "Rainbow".     Endeavour dominated the British racing scene until 1938 when she was laid up til the end of WWII.  She was saved by Elizabeth Meyer of Newport, RI and after a ten million dollar refit, became the most breathtaking sight on the water.
