The Morgans named on this document all appear to be related to Evan Morgan, the well known wealthy merchant, friend of Benjamin Franklin and father of Dr. John Morgan, one of the most famous medical men of the Colonial period. (That John Morgan died in 1789 so this is not him but his cousin) Names on the document are: John Morgan, Captain the the First Sub-Legion of the the United States Samuel Edwards, grocer Evan Morgan, deceased, Uncle of said John Morgan George Morgan (witness) Joseph Gibbons (witness) Benjamin Waites William Kelly Ann Vaux George Roberts Henry Drinker, Jr J. B. Smith (associate judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Philadelphia County) ---Orginal seals of John Morgan and the judge on the document.--- Mostly legal jargon with descriptions of the property and buildings including:  "three story brick messuage* or Tenement and Lot of ground situated lying and being at the North East Corner of High and Delaware Second Streets in the said City of Philadelphia" *In law, the term messuage equates to a dwelling-house and includes outbuildings, orchard, curtilage or court-yard and garden.  (Thank you, Wikepdia!) CONDITION:  On thick vellum and except for some mild stains, some toning in the middle and a little separation at the right margin fold with about 2 by 5mm of paper loss there, it's in wonderful condition for being over 300 years old.
