Description HERIZ-DESIGN WOOLEN RUG Dimensions: The rug is 60 inches x 95 inches (5 ft. 9 inches x 7 ft. 11 inches) [or, 175 cm. x 241 cm.] Description: The rug is made with wool imported from New Zealand and natural dyes, imported from Germany (Bayer dyes).  A growing scarcity of tribal items in the marketplace contributes to the value of this reasonably priced rug. This handsome rug was woven in Upper Egypt.  Egypt ranks as one of the most important of the minor rug-making countries and has a tradition of weaving dating back several millennia.  Background: Rugs of Heriz, located in Northwest Persia, have a unique character and design.  The latter centers around a central medallion set on an angle against a field of geometric floral forms and colored in shades of brick red, green and burnt orange with ivory and yellor ochre accents.  Heriz rugs are tightly woven and sturdy in construction and durable.  The wool pile is clipped low.  Heriz rugs are considered to be among the best of the coarsely wooven rugs.   International bidders are kindly requested to contact me about shipping and handling before bidding.
