ATTENTION: I'm selling one of the most probably oldest swords ever offered on eBay!!! This very early Nagamaki shaped Tachi looks like Heian periode and is probably from 1100 - 1200. Please don't miss this one. This sword has been polished in Japan and sure stands out of any collection at first sight! A wonderfull Hamon and Hada as featured on this sword is what Nihonto is all about. Very strong O-Kissaki and well cut Bohi! The Nagako shows and underlines the great age of this rare sword perfectly.Sword is housed in a Japanese made Shirasaya and equipped with a silver Habaki. Nagamaki shaped Tachis have been used as popular arms on anciente Japanese battlefields in the old days. The sword once had probably started its live as a Nodachi as its cut down Nagako indicates an even (!) bigger original length. Yet it remains an impressive: It measures 99,5 cm total with a cutting edge of 71 cm. I am very confident that it is a Heian periode blade. Please imagine how seldom these do show up on eBay nor elsewhere! YES! Almost never. They are just about as rare as it gets. Now for the other side of the medal: There is one forging flaw visible, a so called Ware, please see the detailed pictures. It is not a fatal flaw but of ccourse distracts a bit from the overall beauty of this rare sword. If it wasn't for the Ware this sword would probably go Juyo Token easily!
