Description
Gothic Astrolabe (14th Century) This museum qualitity instrument is a reconstruction of an early Spanish Astrolabe made by the renowned instrument maker, Martin Brunold. A simple Google search will lead directly to his web site. The rete has 17 star positions. There are 3 plates for 36, 38,40,42, 46 and 50 degrees each with 5 degree almucanters, 10 degree azimuths, unequal hours and twilight lines. The back of the instrument has the ecliptic and calendar circles, shadow square and a circle with year numbers for determining the day of the week at the beginning of the year. Mr. Brunold is a master craftsman having made instruments for museums all over the world. I urge you to look at his website (www.astrolabe.ch/) and look at this instrument (Gothic Astrolabe). The principal difference between this astrolabe and what is shown is that I have three plates rather than two. This allows using it in two other locations. $1,025.00 plus $30.00 shipping and insurance by registered mail in the USA.
