John McCormack was born in 1884 and died in 1945. He was a world-famous Irish Tenor in the fields of opera and popular music, and renowned for his flawless diction and superb breath control.  The box is 6 3/4 long  4 " deep  and 1 1/2" high. The inside cover is inscibed in script  JMCK. It has a very fine houndstooth design (not very visible in photo) on the top and sides with a piano hinge and push type opening device on the cover. I have been told that it is German silver.It has not been polished or cleaned. It could be a cigarette box but I don't believe a singer would smoke but it could be used as a tabletop box. It has no maker's marks. ( At least none that can find but I have missed them before) Place a Bid!
