SHAOLINTEMPLES EBAY SALES   GREGORIAN CHANT 2 PARCHMENTS 4 PAGES NICE CONDITION      TO VIEW LARGER PICTURES PLEASE SCROLL DOWN. THANK YOU.    These parchment is soft calf or lamb, rigid though with a soft feel and a sense of suppleness.  There is some discoloration. these were framed. Therefore one side is lighter the other is dark. There are two section, for a total of 4 pages. The pages are 67 and 68. One page number is for both sides. that is page number 67 consist of both sides. The same with page number 68. Apparently they did not number each side of the page.    These are two consecutive pages. If the pages were number using the numbering style of today the pages would read pages 67, 68, 69 , and 70.     The page size is 21 inches by 14 inches. The other is 21 inches by 13.5 inches.   These pages a very large for the time and period. Unfortunately the bindings were trimmed.  Originally before trimming these were most likely 23 inches by 14 inches.    Condition good, one original stitched repair.         These chants are not harmonized, though they do have inflections of a melody. Chants are from the texts taken from Christian religious writings, especially the Mass and the Bible. Pope Gregory had the chants place on parchment. These parchments are are hand written with some black and red illuminations. The music lines are four and using square symbols mark the notes.    The time estimate for the creation of these parchments is 1450 to 1550. Arabic numbers were introduced into Europe about 1200. The simplistic written music parchment is an example of a double sided Gregorian chant, of the period of late Medieval Europe. Most likely this is from Italy, also a likely hoof of being from France or Spain. Though Spanish music chants parchments were written Spanish.       These are the  ANTIPHONS AND INVITATORIES that appear on the four pages of this Georgian Chant parchment. The portion of the text below in large, bold ,underline, and italicized are the lines that are on these parchment. This is the exact order that the ANTIPHONS AND INVITATORIES appear on these parchments. 1126 Regem archangelorum Dominum, venite adoremus. CREDIT FOR THE ABOVE INFORMATION IS GIVEN IN THIS LINK PLEASE CLICK HERE.    Clearing out, most of these items for sale, I have owned for years.   FIRST AND FOREMOST, when payment arrives I ship.
