Description
Welcome to the Connecticut River Valley of Western Massachusetts! Enjoy our selections from the heart of New England, created in the mill towns of the Valley or brought here by families from around the world. Here you will find the beautiful and useful things they couldn't do without.... Superb queen or king size linen/cotton embroidered flat sheet plus one sham! Doesn't get better than this, folks, an antique hand embroidered top sheet that will fit a king or queen size mattress, plus one single layer sham. Please note the details. Textile is mainly cotton with some linen in the mix, color is just off-white, will launder to bright white. Textile is crisp, slightly thicker than standard sheeting, tightly wove, and like new. Whole top of the sheet is embroidered with denser work in the center containing a cartouche with the initials R M, all work meticulously by hand. Many florals, butterflies and birds. Lace fillers in the floral embroidery are drawnwork. Edges at the hems are embellished with drawnthread work that goes, along with embroidery, around the corners and down the sides about 20", see all measurements below. Note that there is one single layer sham, should be two but we take what comes. Sham can be made into a casing or used as a table or dresser cover. It is a bit darker than the sheet, needs a wash, see condition details below. It is extremely rare to find an antique sheet wide enough to be usable on today's larger mattresses. This sheet was probably intended to sweep to the floor on a high standard width bed. Lucky to find it. Do not miss out. Measurements: Sheet measures 102" long by 126" wide. Sham is 34x43". Center embroidered section of the sheet is about 36" wide by 20" tall, not counting the hem, although embroidery continues across the whole top of the sheet and down the sides 20" or so. Sham main embroidery measures 11x22" with additional embroidery at the edges.Condition: Nearly perfect condition. One small penny size gray smudge was noted in the body of the sheet, should wash right out. One corner of the sham is soiled from storage, again should wash right out. With so many wonderful things to choose from on ebay, we try to make it as easy as possible for you to get to know River Valley Textiles and what we have to offer, so if you have a moment, please click on about me. Textiles were never meant to be seen and not touched, their very name implying a tactile connection. We try to meet the challenge of picturing and describing them well enough so that what we have at our fingertips comes as close as possible to yours. If you need more information, let us know, but keep in mind that all judgements about age and origin are only that, based on experience and research.Bidding suggestion: Many bidders wait until an auction is nearly over to bid, but they don't have to. Once you decide to go ahead, you can simply enter the highest amount you are willing to pay and the ebay computer will do your bidding for you. No one will know what that amount is but you and only the lowest amount will show on the listing. If a higher bid comes in, this automatic bidding on your behalf will go up to and just exceed that bid and you will pay only a little more to win the auction, but never more than the highest bid you entered. Try it once and you will see how it works. And as long as the auction is still going, you can always go back and bid more if you like -- with no limits except your good judgement! Paypal preferred! Check or money order acceptable but only if sent PROMPTLY! WE TRY TO KEEP YOUR COSTS DOWN. Unfortunately ebay charges have gone up significantly in a way that burdens those of us with one of a kind vintage goods, while favoring those who sell in bulk. Paypal fees and the rising costs for goods and packing materials add to this burden. We cannot afford simply to continue to absorb these expenses so we add a small handling fee to every item, the exception being that small light items to be shipped in a slim envelope will be charged a smaller fee. This action reflects a regrettable reality beyond anyone’s control, but no other choice presents itself. We can only hope that things will improve and if they do, we will go back to absorbing these costs as usual. TO SAVE ON SHIPPING COST, please note the various options on your invoice. First Class mail is less expensive than Priority and often takes no longer unless you are across the country, and then only an extra day or two. For weightier items, Parcel Post is significantly less expensive than Priority but takes from 1 to 7 days longer depending on distance mailed. If you choose the less expensive Parcel Post, be prepared for a longer wait, but please do not attribute the delay to River Valley Textiles in your feedback stars. Turnover time of 5 days or less is measured from receipt of payment to time of dropping at post office. We send goods out daily in order to minimize waiting time, but during certain periods mail is slow. Again, please do not attribute delays in mail service to River Valley Textiles as we mail out promptly once payment is received and should not be held responsible for postal delays. OUR FEEDBACK, INCLUDING THE STAR DETAILS, IS VERY IMPORTANT TO US. If you have concerns before or after receiving your item, please contact us for resolution to ensure a positive result. Your enthusiastic star ratings is our goal, so if we have provided excellent service, don’t hold back. Your highest rating translates into growth and success and enhances our ability to provide you with the goods you love. INTERNATIONAL BUYERS please note that calculation for ship charges has been added to the information available in the listing description. Email if questions arise. First class international mail is the least expensive choice but may take several weeks for delivery, so patience is in order. Once again, we mail out goods daily to minimize your waiting time and deeply appreciate your enthusiastic ratings when we have done our best. HERE --> Please scroll down for enlargements of pictures. Most items are found locally and are one of a kind. New England, and western Massachusetts in particular, provide rich sources of vintage and antique goods at the many country stores, flea markets, auctions, shows, and private estates that the area is famous for. See about me for more on the rich history of the Connecticut River Valley. Items are nearly always in "used" condition, but are as close to perfect as possible, the exceptions being those of significant interest or beauty with inescapable flaws due to age. Goods will arrive clean and without odors unless otherwise noted. Color tones on pictures may vary due to uncontrollable natural light conditions.
