Description
This auction is for a awesome, colorful pair of late Edwardian earrings. This round earring face is just a riot of color! Three pierced lobes are filled with a garland of flowers and hand painted enamel rose buds with leaves ring the outside edge. There are three types of enameling here...the hand painted flowers, the white opaque frame and the transparent flower colors fired over guilloche engraving. The earring face was made circa 1900 is gilded brass, the earwires are solid 14k yellow gold. We love to go antiquing and resaleing...you never know what you'll find. As professional jewelers, we have eyes tuned for the beautiful. We find so many neglected things: old cufflinks, pins and buttons. These pieces shouldn't be regulated to the "junk" drawer! They just need someone to give them a new purpose...a new life lease. These awesome earrings started life circa 1900 as a pair of clothes buttons. It seems hard to imagine a time when we weren't properly dressed unless we had our hat, gloves and parasol...I've put up a vintage photo of a fashionable lady in her best ensemble. Her striking decorative lapel buttons are exactly how our earring buttons would have been worn too. We opened the thread loop and made it into our wire catcher, then attached the solid gold ear wires using our laser welder. The vintage style shepard hook and catch are so easy to use and give the earring an eye catching swing. I never want to have anything less than 14k solid gold to wear in my ears...so why would you? We're concerned about the enviornment so we source this 14k wire from a company that refines old gold...no new mining of our dwindling resources. The laser welder is what makes the earrings possible...no flame or sloppy solders. The machine literally generates a laser beam which safely welds the metals together. The earring face measures 22.3mm in diameter (just a bit bigger than a nickle) and the earrings hang just over 1 and 3/8th inches long overall in the ear. They weigh 6.4 total grams, or just a bit more than a dime in each ear. If you've tired of the same styles in every jewelry shop and want a unique, colorful earring...something that will make you feel look good and feel good too...these are the earrings for you! Please feel free to email with any questions.....Don't forget to check out our other auctions....We have several pair of awesome vintage earrings this week. Thanks for looking!
