Description
This auction is for an antique Ross Microscope and wooden case. The serial number is 5561. It is marked Eclipse - Ross London. It is all brass, including its black, three legged stand. It has three lenses and the eyepiece. Each lens is marked Ross London. They are marked 1/6 inch #21978, 2/3 inch #21944 and 1 1/2 inch #21416. The eyepiece is not marked.   I am not sure exactly how old this piece is but I am guessing it is from around 1860.   There is a movable slide holder and there is a threaded rod (see photo #3) which does not have a knob. I am not sure whether it had a knob at one point, or not.   The microscope is in excellent condition. The wooden box has a crack (split) on the back and is missing the leather strap. There are no separate holders for storing the lenses or eyepiece in the case, but I have them wrapped and kept in a small box inside the case.   If you have any questions or would like any additional photos, please email me.   All items are sold as is. PLEASE ask all questions prior to bidding, I will answer quickly. If you do not ask and you are not happy with what you buy, there will be no refunds. If you have information to add to my listing, I would always welcome a friendly comment.   Payment - I accept cashiers (bank) checks, money orders or cash. Payment is expected within 5 days of the end of auction (unless other arrangements are made prior to bidding or within 1 day of end of auction). I try to send invoices within 12 hours of auction close. If you haven't received an invoice within 24 hours please contact me, because that means the invoice didn't go through for some reason (check your spam folder), and I have no way of knowing that you didn't receive it. I MUST have communication with the winning bidder within 1 day of auction close. No contact/no pay after 5 days and item will be relisted, non paying bidder action taken, and appropriate feedback left.On Jul-11-08 at 09:12:49 PDT, seller added the following information: Based upon information recently given to us by someone who has a great deal of knowledge on Ross Microscopes this microscope dates to 1895 or 1896.
