I believe this lyre to be early in piano history, possibly early to mid 1800s which would be pre-Steinway & Sons. The lyre is hand carved of solid wood in two pieces that have been joined vertically at the center. The reticulated scrolls are substantial and deeply carved. The finish is original and has a fine alligator texture on the front and sides. The pedals are cast and wrought iron. If you like it as an architectural piece and don't have an antique piano to restore, it would make a very nice table base for a music room. The lyre measures 23" tall, 15 3/8" wide at  the widest point and the main body of the wood center is 2 1/8" thick. The pedals are 8 3/8" long. The top supports are 8" by 3" except for the piece cut off the back of the left one. The wood is in excellent condition with only a couple of minor shallow nicks/ rub wear, the largest of which is shown in the last detail photo, (light area, right hand side). There are no cracks or breaks in the wood. It's very solid and heavy, weighing a little over 9 pounds without the packaging. I used a make-up brush to get much of the surface dust off but it still needs to be cleaned.  There are never any packing or handling charges.
