Sourced from a charming gentleman who lives in a pretty village in South West France. He advised me that the two blankets were made by his Mother (He was in his 70s) when she was a young girl for her intended marital home. That they had been lovingly used and cared for. As always forgive my unintentional mistakes! I am not a textile expert just a lover of pretty things! I will do my best to give an accurate description and many photos. The blankets are a good large size. They will each beautifully cover a single bed or run across a double . They have scalloped edges and are worked in the pattern of flowers. One side is flat worked whilst the other has a more textured feel - I can only describe it as small beads of crochet work placed perfectly around the flowers and more circular edge patterns. It so so tactile! Entirely hand worked. Delicately so. Perfectly done. A beautiful pearly white cotton thread has been used. The blankets are in incredible condition, they really are. But there are small wounds due to it's age and general use. There are a few areas where the stitching is missing - there is absolutely no fray in these areas, they have been simply removed carefully through time. You can see them in the photos, most are just small areas which are a little wider between flowers and to be perfectly honest hardly noticeable on general viewing. One section is a double missing area and is a little more noticeable. BUT on a darker surface as the lawn where I took the shots! If you placed it over white sheets then it is just not terribly obvious. One of the blankets is slightly more damaged - in one area a section is missing - again not too drastic, just a little more has been taken away. (the photo should give you a good idea). I must stress that the missing areas are really not too bad and not terribly easy to spot on general viewing. If like me you love quirky original items then these are for you! They sill look divine in any interior. And what a lovely story to tell your friends when they come around for a chat! Perfectly wonderful vintage beauty. French country elegance and inspirational style! They have been carefully laundered. It is simply fabulous - and will add a French Country flourish to any interior. Chic yet charming! Dimensions: - BOTH are APPROXIMATELY: 140cm x 214cm- at furthest points.
