EXQUISITE EDWARDIAN SILK VELVET FRAGMENT STRIP PURPLE Start Price USD 10.95 Current Price USD 10.95 Time Left - Bid Count 1 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Tuesday, August 26, 2008 End Time Sunday, August 31, 2008 Location Black Mountain, NC See more about 'EXQUISITE EDWARDIAN SILK VELVET FRAGMENT STRIP PURPLE' Description This auction is for a gorgeous antique Edwardian era silk velvet fragment strip.  It is an exquisite shade of deep purple, a bit darker than shown in photos, since they were taken in natural light, however, one can see its texture.  It is hand-stitched on the inside about 1/4".  The velvet's texture is so soft, most likely French in origin and its pile is close to the surface.  It is very tightly woven like a solid piece of velvet.  This appears to have been a handmade belt at one time, since it has its original eyes on one end and a diagonal seam nearby with a selvedge.  It is lightweight, but with perfect body due to the underside.  It is not flimsy or drapey, but simply lovely.  This is wonderful for doll clothing, in particular, for sleeves, collar, purses, hats, etc., since it is only 3 3/4" toward bottom and mostly 4" in width.  It is approximately 25" in length.  One will love this velvet and shade.   S&H is $2.25 Place a Bid!
