The tongs are beautifully made with bright cut engraving on the arms. They have great construction. They are still very strong and working perfectly after two hundred years. The tongs are engraved with a crest of a hand holding flowers. The tongs were probably made around the 1790s. The tongs are marked on the inside of both arms with the lion passant for sterling silver and a maker’s mark of EB. The condition is excellent. The spring is still very strong and in great working order. The tongs are still working flawlessly. There is an area on one of the arms where the bright cut engraving is missing. It does not appear that the arm is broken as I cannot see a spot were a solder repair clearly goes through both sides of the arm. Also this is not an area where you would expect the arm to be broken or damaged. The arm is very strong as is everything else on the tongs. We have included several close-up photos. There are no dents, no dings, no splits, no breaks, and no other repairs. The tongs are 10 1/8 inches long. The weight is 150.6 grams or 5.3 ounces.
