I hope the photos does this stunning piece some justice, it's certainly more impressive in the flesh and would make for the talking point of any home collection. The base is all hand carved and is totally covered with a plethora of designs and motifs, mostly with classical references. To the top of the table legs are the rams heads, the ram central plaque, the keikomon birds on the stretcher, the fluted legs, the flowers, garlands and other arabesques in abundance. It really is breathtakingly intricate and the work of a skilled hand. It has been gilded to give it that gold colour. Then we have the table top in satinwood with a rosewood crossbanding with hand painted designs including classical urns, scrolls, flowers and garlands. AGain the work of a steady and skilled hand.
