LAYAWAY IS AN OPTION AS WELL FOR EBAYERS W/EXCELLENT FEEDBACK.  FREE SHIP FOR PICKUPS AND SUFFOLK AND NASSAU COUNTIES ON LONG ISLAND. OTHERS, PLEASE ASK...WE CAN HELP TO GET BEST PRICE AND SERVICE. newportdog store I am happy to offer this authentic early rocker, Boston Rocker, that is complete and untouched, all original and I believe, very early 1800s or late 1700s.  According to my reading and researching this chair, in the book, The Standard Book of American Antique Furniture by Edgar G. Miller, Jr., which is a fabulous reference book...describes the earliest of Boston Rockers and their dimensions and decorations.  The earliest have seat size that is almost the same in width and depth such as this chair.  Later in the mid 1800s, the seat was wider in the front and narrowed back.  Also the painting, which I call flame painting, however there is a more proper name I am sure, is beautiful and original.  The measurements of this original black paint chair w/handpainted decor is depth of seat..15 inches and rolls upwards and back with additional 3 inches. The back of the seat is 16 inches across, as is the front 16 3/4" across and the middle of the seat is 19" inches across.  Of course it is one plank and rolls under in the front. At rest the measurement from floor to seat is just shy 17" with the rocker leaning back at rest.  From floor to top of back of chair is 42 inches.   It is sound and original and please see all pictures.  This chair has had no serious breaks; however there is a seam in the seat that is noticable and the runner I had a piece put in by a professional but did not milk paint it black; I wanted you to see it firsthand; upon shipping I will darken it for you however. See the pictures and you will see what a great job the artist did and it WAS expensive, but the chair deserved it.  ALL THE REST IS IN GOOD STRUCTURAL CONDITION. Please ask any questions.  I HAVE A WONDERFUL SHIPPER WHO IS REASONABLE, SO ASK. ALSO: Can be picked up and we do some shipping in nearby New England and down the eastern shore of Maryland and Washington, D.C.  GREYHOUND SHIPS VERY NICELY AND IS ECONOMICALLY FEASABLE AS WELL.This chair came from a friend who lived up in Rhode Island in an 18 century home and was part of the estate. I might possibly be able to help with shipping of this item going up to the New England area along I-95 for a very reasonable fee.  My nephew travels that route and it would be the only or just one of tops....3 items being hand delivered, unlike shippers with tons of furniture on one truck.  I worry about these beautiful old pieces of Americana being destroyed by some ignorant individual, after having them cared for over 200 years. Please ask about where your are if you are interested, tristate areas are  possible and Washington, D.C.  I guarantee its authenticity and it is rare. All sales made with personal check, money order and charges are refundable; however there will be a 15% restock fee and shipping fees are nonrefundable. This is a large expensive item. Insurance claims will be handled as quickly as possible and buyer must cooperate with process. Buyer must wait for payment.  Thanks for viewing and please see the other lovely items we have up for sale. International buyers are all final sales.
