Description
A silver plated sugar bowl designed by Dr Christopher Dresser for James Dixon and Sons, Sheffield, c.1880 With ebonised wood swing handle, maker's hallmarks and shape number. The piece measures approximately 14.5 cm in diameter.Dresser produced designs in electroplate for the company between 1878 and 1882 and this is a fabulous example from this period. His growing fascination with Japanese design and visionary concern for function above decoration are most apparent in this piece. Very condition indeed - with just a few extremely minor surface traces of age and no damages.© Text and photographs by room_606. Payment is required within 7 days. Non-paymentAll non-paying bidders are, without exception, reported to eBay. This is not for the sake of being vindictive, but because eBay charges retrospective fees calculated on the actual sale price of items and this money needs to be retrieved. Believe it or not, it's hard enough to make ends meet on here as it is! Thank you for your understanding. Please refer to eBay's policy on non-payment for more information, including its ramifications for the bidder.Condition of itemsPlease note that, unless clearly stated otherwise, my listings are for vintage/antique items and therefore, by definition, are not going to be in the same condition you would expect from a brand new item. Please be assured that I always endeavour to offer the most accurate description possible of the item's condition and take multiple illustrative photographs. Vintage electrical itemsUnless clearly stated otherwise in the description, vintage electrical items are sold in their original condition so should be safety checked by an electrician before use. ReturnsReturns are possible, if reported within 7 days and by prior arrangement, if a mistake has been made in the listing and the item is not as described, but for no other reason. I'm afraid that buyer's remorse does not qualify and the cost of return postage is not included in any refund. Please don't hesitate to e-mail me to ask any questions not covered above; I always answer as quickly as possible. Thanks very much for taking the time to read this and best of luck bidding!
