Although also a silversmith and jeweller he is now best known as functionalist innovator and a key figure in the development of industrial lighting. His significance in the story of twentieth century design is becoming increasingly recognised by museums worldwide.Theis example is executed in cream - rather than black - lacquered steel. It is stamped with the factory mark 'Kaiser Idell Original' to the rear of the shade.The lamp stands at approximately 25cm in height. The diameter of the shade is about 15cm.The lamp is in very good vintage, used condition with some minor wear to the surface of the lacquer consistent with age but no dents or other significant damages to the metal. It has has yellowed a little over time, presumably from exposure to sunlight. This model, originally designed for hospital use, is extremely hard to find and even more uncommon in cream. The wiring has been renewed at some point in the recent past by a previous owner and works. However, in common with all vintage electrical items, it must be checked by a qualified electrician before use.
