He was an important contributor to the 1925 Exposition des Arts Decoratifs Modernes and was awarded the French Legion of Honour in 1926. With his brother Ernest and sister Ernestine he managed one of the largest art glass factories in France during the exciting artistic period we call the Art Deco. In 1918 the Le Verre Français trademark and tricolour (red, white and blue for France) symbol was registered - production focussed on the mass market The brand used the etched glass cameo technique and it was designed to complement the premier brand – Schneider. Ernestine Schneider managed a retail outlet in Paris specifically designed for the sale of the Charder - Le Verre Français brand. The Charder trademark being derived from Charles’ name, CHARles SchneiDER. The works from the Charles Schneider glass factory used all of the glass making techniques that developed during the 1920's. The daring use of colour and design is a trademark of Charles Schneider's glass output. His glassmaking output evolved from the naturalistic forms of the Art Nouveau into the geometric patterns and hard edged forms of the Art Deco.   Last Photo: A very similar smaller Vase example. An interesting vase of very simple pattern sitting on an applied disk foot. The under-glass is a mottled light blue and the etched dark blue over-glass decoration scrolls down the vase in four symmetrical columns. The thick banded rim is decorated with stylised leaves and the pattern alludes to grapes/berries and vines. Engraved Le Verre Francais on the top of the foot. Dates 1928 - Height 27cm./ Width 21cm.
