Description
This is a beautiful example of Victorian-era cabinetry in a pump organ about the size of a spinet piano. The organ was made by the Kimball Piano Company in 1896, as verified in a letter from Kimball Piano Company to the owners of the organ in 1966. I still have that letter and it will go with the organ. There is one stop missing and one stop replaced. All the keys are intact. There is a very small amount of veneer missing in the lattice-work on the right side of the organ. There are several cracks in the wood, the biggest of which I have pictured in the attached photographs. The one exception is a very large crack in the back, unfinished wooden cover which opens to the original posted instructions on how to break the organ down for moving. The pumps work fine. The straps that attach the peddles to the pumps were apparently replaced decades ago with US Army WWI belts. We replaced them with proper straps from an antique piano and organ restoration company a couple of years ago. There are sturdy, beautifully turned handles on each side of the organ for ease of moving. This is an exceptionally well-made antique. It is for pick up only in the Dale City area of Northern Virginia, 30 miles south of Washington D.C. Payment is expected at auction end via PayPal or, by arrangement, upon pickup. Please email all questions prior to bidding as all sales are final.
