This mask has Very Intricate and Detailed Carving of traditional female design and representation. A large mask that displays beautifully with a full thick well attached raffia in very odd and erratic shaped holes indication of primitive tools used and to be hand drilled. Scarification and patina is wonderful. I purchased this mask in 2000. Of course there is no way of knowing exact age. Approx. Measurements are: 16 inches Tall (without considering the long raffia) 32 inches to the bottom of the bulk of the raffia while hanging X 7.25 inches Wide X 8.5 inches Deep. This Songye Mask would be a Wonderful Addition To Any Fine African Art Collection. A Very Nice Gift Idea. I have included numerous photo views, Some lighting conditions show a much more red affect.
