Description
galerielithique Store FINE FLINT CHOPPING TOOL Typology : Superb specimen of a small chopping tool. Cutting : This particular piece was created using a flint pebble. Five major flakes were cut on both sides to create the cutting edge, then smaller retouches were made along the edge, where evidence of useware is still visible to this day. The rest of the stone was left cortical. Beautiful collector's piece ! Dating, hominid : This implement belongs to the late Pebble Culture (Lower Paleolithic period, circa 650 000 years ago), and was conceived by Homo HEIDELBERGENSIS. Origin : It was found in the Grand-Pressigny area, discovered in the Creuse's ancient riverbed, where the flint was polished in the turmoils of the sands and waters. Sizes : 8 cm X 8.50 cm Weight : 280g A beautiful patina embellishes this tool from the Pebble Culture. Very well preserved, no modern damage.
