Description
Up for sale is an authentic, Greek Bronze Figure of a Hoplite Warrior.    I want to make this very clear, this is an original Bronze figure from Ancient Greece, not a reproduction.   It was found at the tomb of a Hoplite Warrior in Attica in the 1960's, during an archaeological excavation, and then bought by an Antiques Shop owner and brought to the United States in the late 60's. The figure is made of Bronze and have a greenish-brown patina with traces of red all over it, it's 3 5/8" tall, the figure is attached to a wooden base and is protected by a glass dome. The warrior is kneeling on one knee and is holding a Xiphos (sword) with his right hand, it has a lot of details on his clothes (is wearing a Iphikratean Armor and Greaves to protect his legs),  and helmet (the figure is wearing the classical Chalcidian Helmet); the details of his toes, fingers and facial features, can be also appreciated. It's in Excellent Condition, please check out the pictures. It has been protected by the glass dome for many years.   The hoplite was a heavy infantryman, the central element of warfare in Ancient Greece. The word hoplite hoplites) derives from hoplon (plural hopla) meaning an item of armour or equipment, thus 'hoplite' may approximate to 'armoured man'. Hoplites were the citizen-soldiers of the Ancient Greek City-states. They were primarily armed as spear-men and fought in a phalanx formation.   This is a VERY RARE! opportunity for you to own a piece of real history, this is a one-of-a-kind Museum Quality piece. Extremely Rare and Highly Collectible!.   Insurance is not included, but I strongly recommend to insure the figure.   You can bid with confidence. I am a trusted seller!.
