Description
This most exquisite and delicate Wedding Bridal Veil belongs to my 80 yr. old girlfriend.  Her grandmother was married in it at a Catholic Cathedral in Norway in the 1850's. It was removed from the headpiece for preservation reasons. The whereabouts of the headpiece is unknown. It has been very well preserved and loved as an heirloom for at least 150 years, and now no one in her family cares to have it.  So, we are passing it along to someone who will care for it as the piece of art that it is. Many, many hours of very delicate work went into the making of this most wonderful lace item. The netting is so soft it feels like silk, but i think it is cotton. All of the hand work is very fine cotton thread. There is no damage to any of the threads. Thats right, no tears no broken brides. No holes in the net. The extent of soiling exists as 2 very tiny dark spots in the lower 1/4 of the net area. they are about the same in size & i have pictured one. Here are the measurements: Length of center back - 89".... Width at the widest - 130".... Length of the tiny scalloped edge all the way around - 260". The pattern of floral & leaves, tendrills & flowers matches exactly on each side, with the center spray of flowers at the bottom. The net is dotted with point d'espirit that gives a most etherial look. The color is a light ivory & consistant throughout. The photo of the full view shows one half with my yardstick lying on the middle center. Floorspace did not permit a full lay out.  Please ask any questions & i will answer promptly.  International insurance is expensive & so i usually opt for a customs form attatched to help insure delivery will be made, but you may have your choice of shipping if it goes out of this country... shipping will be combined for multiple items. out of country mailings are available for doll clothes that i make & very small items only. cost is: 7.00 U.S. minimum.... & paypal payment only...  First Class Mail to the states will be 5.00  for USA buyers (Insurance is extra).    . Please read revisions BELOW   On Oct-03-08 at 08:29:21 PDT, seller added the following information: Please accept my apologys for listing mistakes made in haste last eve. I have talked with my friend again this a.m. The date of the lace was 1890 not 1850. It was her mothers, not her grandmothers. The cathedral was in France not Norway. The mother was a Norwegian lady who married a French diplomat. They lived in France & Norway. Everything else was correct. I must add that it has been stored in acid free tissue, away from light. It has never been laundered, or even ironed. I misted with distilled water to remove some wrinkles for the lay out photos. One half of it is still looking a little scrunched. It has never been starched, and is very soft. Again, i apologise for my misleading title (age of lace) I cannot change the title at this point. Forgive Me? Oct.-11-08     I have just lowered the price from 650.00 to 500.00 today.
