DETAILS:  We are listing this antique or vintage Louis Vuitton Foot Locker or Steamer trunk with a reserve of $3000.00 to protect our investment.  We are not experts on vintage Vuitton luggage, but our best guess is that this dates to around the 1910s or the 1920s.  We are certain that it was made before the 2nd World War.  If you can date it more accurately, please email and let us know.   This trunk has two removable trays.  One tray fits inside the other as shown in our photos.   This is guaranteed to be an authentic vintage Louis Vuitton hard side trunk.  It is NOT a fake, copy or reproduction.   MARK/SIGNATURE: This is marked in many different places in different ways.  Many of the metal fittings have marks and there is a large paper label inside the lid which can be seen in our photos.  The front lock is marked:   70 CHAMPS ELYSEES PARIS LOUIS VUITTON LONDON 149 NEW BOND STREET MADE IN France 057325   On both ends are the hand painted black and red initials C.H.  On one end, these initials are partially covered by one of two very old, large paper shipping labels. These labels were applied when the trunk was shipped to Houston, Texas (see photos).   CONDITION: The overall condition is good to very good clean used condition, but this antique trunk has some exterior obvious and noticeable signs of age and of use as travel luggage.  The interior is in great condition.   We have not polished, oiled, cleaned, or restored this trunk in any way, we will leave this up to the new owner.  Some simple elbow grease and basic restoration will dramatically improve the visual condition of this trunk.  The structural condition is great.   Do not let our overly detail description discourage you from bidding.  Several similar trunks that were in similar or worse condition than ours have sold for much more money than our reserve price on eBay over the last few months.  The only difference is that the other sellers gave short vague descriptions of the condition.   We cannot list every possible minor blemish, scratch, scrape, stain, dent and bump to the exterior, so please click to enlarge every one of our photographs so that you can examine the condition in more detail.  This trunk is sold in good to very good AS IS used condition, so please ask any questions that you might have about the condition prior to bidding.   We carefully examined all six sides of the exterior and none of the metal mounts or studs are missing.  There are expected scratches, dents, and other signs of use to the metal mounts, most noticeable to the edges and to a few of the corners.   The leather handles to both ends show wear, but still seem very strong and stable. The leather strap that would have wrapped around the middle of the trunk is missing, and the two corresponding leather loops on the back are both damaged.  Most of the leather strips mounted to the exterior are in very good condition, with the exception of the strip on the back top edge of the lid which has a small area of missing leather.   The wooden strips to the exterior are also generally in good condition with signs of wear and one area of minor loss to the underside.   The original locks are in excellent condition and open and close smoothly and cleanly.  However, we do not have any of the original keys.   The interior is generally in very good condition with both lift-out trays and all handles and tabs intact.  There are expected scattered very minor stains, spots, and darkened areas to the interior fabric, but generally it is in very good to excellent condition.  There is one small area to the underside of the lid where the fabric has torn and become detached from the lid & needs to be reattached.   Again, carefully look at every one of our photos in detail to examine the condition before bidding, since not every single miniscule blemish can be mentioned.   Generally, the exterior of the trunk is in overall good to very good used condition, and the interior is in very good to excellent used condition.   MEASUREMENTS: Approximate length is 43.5 inches, the height about 16 inches, and the depth is about 22 inches.   SHIPPING: Due to the large dimensional weight and size of this item, the approximate cost to ship and fully insure this trunk in the lower 48 states via UPS Ground will be $185.00 to $225.00.
