Description
This scarce machine is dated around 1900-1910 and comes with 2 instruction manuals and accessories, which makes it a rare find. It runs smoothly. The Serial No. is 788452. There are dates on some of the accessories in the Free accessory box of 1891. I could not find any dates in the 2 manuals. Please note: The yellow on the chrome front of the machine is only glare from my lighting--the chrome is very nice and shiny. The manuals are very informative with detailed operating instructions, diagrams, and a large 2-page color picture of the cabinet the machine came with originally when it was powered by a treadle. When I got it, it had been adapted to electricity. A motor is bolted on and a foot pedal is attached by a cord. There is a working light on the back with a stainless steel shade that was undoubtedly added, also. There are no broken or missing parts on the machine that I can see, and there is no corrosion. There are a few small spots of missing black paint, and one spot where the gilt is bleached/rubbed silver. The colorful, elaborate gilt decor is in quite good condition, overall. The shuttle and bobbin are present. There is a needle in the machine and a spare in the accessory box. The only flaw is that one of the two cover plates, the one over the shuttle, is not the original. It is one that was made from one of the Free specialized cover plate (for doing a special stitch). Probably the original was lost. You can see two tiny holes on the cover plate where something was ground off. The manuals are complete, though the front and back covers on the brown one have separated at the spine. Between the two, there is a wealth of information on using this rare machine. The box of accessories is the original that is pictured in one of the manuals. The picture show the contents of the box and it looks like most pieces are present. Overall, the machine (without the case) measures 16" x 7" x 12". Because this machine originally was a treadle machine in a cabinet, the case is not original. The buyer should let me know if they don't want the case, as the shipping cost may be reduced. All sales are final--no returns or refunds. Thank you for looking. ------ The $50.00 shipping cost shown is an estimate for the East Coast. If you are on the West Coast, shipping should be less. Only actual shipping and packaging costs will be charged and shipping overpayments over $5.00 will be refunded. Buyers in Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico should email before bidding to get a shipping estimate. The shipping charge includes tracking/delivery confirmation and insurance. Item will be sent by FedEx ground (usually the fastest and most economical) or USPS parcel post--whichever is the fastest service for the fee charged. Please contact seller prior to payment if you prefer a particular shipping method as this may change the cost. Paypal is preferred for US buyers, but Postal (only) money orders are accepted and must be received within 10 days.
