Antique WWII Japanese Officer Samurai Sword Signed Antiques Roadshow appraised -signed w/Japanese symbols Start Price USD 1,999.99 Current Price USD 1,999.99 Time Left - Bid Count 1 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Wednesday, August 27, 2008 End Time Wednesday, September 03, 2008 Location Duluth, Minnesota See more about 'Antique WWII Japanese Officer Samurai Sword Signed ' Description Welcome!  Up for auction is an old authentic japanese sumarai sword.  I'm selling this for a friend of mine.  His father was a medic in WWII, and brought two swords home...one he said was an NCO sword, and this one, he said was an officer's sword.  My husband and I went to the Antiques Roadshow in Grand Rapids MI, a couple weeks ago and brought this sword with us as we were intrigued as to it's value.  Their verbal appraisal was $1500 to $2000...the appraiser thought maybe the 1800's...however, he did not remove the handle to check out the markings.  He thought the inlays on the handguard and the end of the handle were gold.  The inlays are beautiful...in the colors of gold, copper, and black...it's an inlay of a cricket, basket, and flowers on the handguard, leaves and vines on the piece next to the handguard, and leaves and flowers on the end cap of the handle.  It appears the handguard used to have two holes, but one is filled in.  The brass piece covering the blade just under the handguard has my friend's dad's initials etched into it.  Our friend has decided to part with this sword but for not less than $1999.99 (the opening bid) as he has no use for it, and he thought someone else might appreciate it.  It's a beautiful sword.  The pictures, I hope, speak for themselves.  I've taken loads of pictures which aren't listed, so if you need a better picture of a detail or something, please ask.  The blade measures 27.75" from the tip to the end of the blade under the handle.  The blade width just before the handguard is approximately 1 1/16 inch.  The length of the entire sword is approximately 31".  There are two small nicks toward the handle and one deeper nick toward the tip of the blade which you can see in the pictures.  It comes with a black sheath and a beautiful woven cloth bag.  Any questions, please ask...you won't be disappointed with the beauty of this sword.  Thank you, and happy eBaying!!                     International buyers - please note I only accept PayPal...and please e-mail for shipping costs.  P.S. - I accurately describe and represent my auctions as best I can...if you have questions, please e-mail prior to the auction's end and I will answer as soon as possible.  My sales are final, unless I mistakenly misrepresent an item, and then by all means, please contact me and I will definitely square away the concern!  Sorry, I cannot grant a refund for regrets.  I want to assure all of you that I enjoy my eBay-ing experiences and I want you to enjoy your eBay experience with me as well!  I have met the nicest people on eBay :o) !!!
