Two angels or cherubs facing toward a urn joined by Phoenix birds in the center, are worked in this middle area. The entire border is then worked in Hardanger embroidery to make this breathtaking beauty! Yet a row of drawn work / hem stitching finishes the border at the edge of the Hardanger. The Hardanger is worked in two different patterns alternating along the border. Border area measures 6" wide. Overall length of the runner is 50-3/4" long x 23" wide. The ground cloth is a loose weave typical of Hardanger work. Very nice condition. I found no imperfections that I noticed. A couple of tiny no harm oxidations marks.
