The estate owner was an artist and the box had been passed down through the family to her.      * The box measures 13-1/4" by 9-1/4" by 3"      * The box bottom features a twelve compartment paint tube tray towards the back that lifts out for storage of brushes and tools beneath, a long center compartment for additional brushes and tools, and four 3" long compartments in the front.      * The entire section noted above is closed by two hinged covers that are locked down with an ingeniously simply wire loop (see photos)      * The inside of the box lid is set up to accomodate the storage of the palette and/or a small canvas or board approximately 9" by 13". There is even a spring clip on one side that would be pushed out to release it.      * There are four small holes in the right side of the box lid and we're not sure what their purpose was, possibly ventialtion.      * The box has a hasp so it could be locked when not in use and a wooden handle      * There is a small dent in the right side of the top, a few scrapes in the paint from use and some obvious signs that it was indeed an artist's box, but other than that it is a really nice item and not something that comes along too often. This is the first toleware artists' box that we have seen, most being made of wood.    There is NO RESERVE!
