Simple yet elegant blue border , sorrounding a lavender grey field with a scene of a village as its focal point with a vine style branch of a tree encompassing the whole field with a lantern hanging in the empty field creating a perfect balace. The design has an exceptional aesthetic feeling to it, which makes the sorrounding part of the carpet. It dates back to Circa 1900-1910, Before Qing Dynasty ended . I wonder if this rug actually was used in a palace or such. Outstanding wool quality, much like in the class of Chinese Manchester wool Carpets. In great condition with good pile throughout. A few superficial stains that are not disturbing and will most definitely come out with future soak washes. This carpet has ran through dirt extraction, been soak washed, ran through dirt extraction a second time , and soak washed a second time , by a textile conservator recently .
