Based on the reference sources I have I believe it is French.It is in excellent vintage condition and the material is crisp for a textile of this age. I'm listing another kashmir shawl, some other textiles and I'm also listing a book this week called "The Kashmir Shawl" by Frank Ames, an encyclopedic treatise on these textiles. This piece 69" X 69 1/2" not including the fringe which measures 3" added to the fringed end. This textile does have a slight musty smell from being stored and there are a couple of holes. I've tried to honestly represent the very small areas of damage in the photos. I've had it for many years and it just stays stored in my closet because I have pets and I don't trust them not to destroy it.
