Description
~*~Hello and thank you for looking~*~ This amazing, rare and wonderful textile is museam quality~*~ a stunning Antique Toile De Jouy panel printed c1780 ( between 1775-1797) at the Jouy-en-Josas factory in France ~ This is the second and last of these amazing panels! This amazing textile is rare, wonderful and in amazing condition. This fabric was printed at the Jouy-en-Josas factory itself and is titled "Scenes Flamandes" ( Flemish Scenes). The design was inspired in the 18th century by David Teniers' painting Flemish Merrymakings and the design is very similar to other works by Huet such as L'Abreuvior and uses fountains, aniamals, flirting couples, music playing and general scenes of merriment to create a stunning glimpse at the past. All figures are in the usual 18th centry garb! There is an amazing piece of this fabric in the Musee de la Toile de Jouy just outside of Paris~*~ This textile is quilted and backed in hand woven linen. It was originally used as part of a bed surround ~*~ This textile is 100% hand stitched and has a LOVELY hand-woven 1700's Siamese linen section at the top where it would have been nailed to the bed. The original nail holes with rust marks still remain just at the top where it is ruffled~*~There is a light layer of thin cotton in between the toile and the hand woven linen backing and the tiny hand quilts are done is natural cotton. What an amazing opportunity to own your own piece of history~ how many people can say they have a 18th century panel printed in Jouy???~*~ A conversation piece for sure. This textile measures 4.92 feet long and at the bottom is 3.93 feet wide. The top of this piece is gathered and measures 25 inches wide at the top. ( 120cm wide at the bottom of the panel and the length is 150cm long ). This piece has survived in amazing amazing museum condition. Just near the middle of the panel, there are 2 small holes that have gone through the backing as well so can be closed by hand or perhaps another small piece of antique linen stitched to the back ( I will happily supply this for the repair!) Up near the top, there is another small area of 2 very small holes again, can be repaired in the same way. The Siamese linen up at the top( the plain linen section) has some damage to the left side with larger holes and some light tea staining also~*~ There are a couple of very small rust marks in the body , otherwise it is just AMAZING. This piece has been cleaned and is ready to use~ perfect for use today or for any textile collection~*~ If you should require more details about the exact condition, please email me or request that I phone you~*~ ~*~Important information~*~ Customer satisfaction is extremely important to me!
