Antique Bellin 1764 Map Carte de LIsle de Ceyan Start Price USD 149.99 Current Price USD 149.99 Time Left - Bid Count 0 Buy It Now Price - Reserve Price - Start Time Friday, September 05, 2008 End Time Monday, September 15, 2008 Location West Palm Beach, FL See more about 'Antique Bellin 1764 Map Carte de LIsle de Ceyan' Description PAYMENT SHIPPING RETURNS ABOUT US LEGAL Antique Bellin 1764 Map 'Carte de L'Isle de Ceyan' DESCRIPTION Up for auction is an original antique map titled "Carte De L'Isle De Ceylan" from 1764.  The geographer is Jacques Nicolas Bellin who lived from 1703 to 1772 and was the chief cartographer for the French Navy.  This piece is from the "Le Petit Atlas Maritime Recueil de Cartes et de Plans des Quatre Parties du Monde" which is a collection of 580 charts.  This copper plate engraving is a small sized atlas in black and white.  The upper right hand corner is numbered Tome III No 31.  This atlas measures approximately 10 and 1/2 inches across and approximately 14 inches high.  The map itself measures 8 inches across and 10 and 1/2 inches high.  This 1764 map is in good condition with pencil writing along the bottom and slight yellowing and jagged edges.  Great piece for any antique map collector!  Auction is being offered with no reserve and a low starting price.
