I've acquired an A.S Aloe gold scale  made in St. Louis, or Los Angeles, Ca, according to the label on the front. I've always admired these scales, as precision instruments to weigh the world's most precious metal. Gold scales were scientific instruments that may have been used in dental offices to weight the gold for gold fillings in years gone by, but were used by other industries that needed a precise measurement of the amount of gold needed. They are accurate forms of weighing gold at the turn of the century. The cabinet is glass in a wooden frame on all sides. The glass is perfect and without damage. The wood looks like cherry, but not certain. It's an antique, with the sensitive and excellent scale inside with adjustments on the outside. Included is a rare gold weights in it's original box with label by the manufacturer. It's got weights from 1 mg to 100 grams with small tweezers to pick up the gold and weights. The box is perfect shape and velvet lined. It's pretty large and measures about 20" x 20" x 10" deep. Sits on adjustable legs to get it level. It's near mint and in super shape.
