The vase has “84” hallmark in Persian engraved at the base of the vase. The vase has extraordinary fine hand engraved details, which cover the entire surface of the vase. The snout of the vase resembles the head of a peacock and the lid can be removed. The vase features four different scenes of couples in different settings with ornate backgrounds. The images on the vase represent scenes from the life of famous Persian poet Omar Khayam. Omar Khayam was born in Nishapur in province of Khorasan in Iran in the latter part of 11th century. He was considered "The King of Wisdom"; he died in 1123 AD. He is one of the most well known poets in the west and his poems are translated into many languages. Some of the scenes illustrate the female playing music for Omar Khayam while he is admiring her and drinking from glass. One of the images illustrates the female offering food to Omar Khayam while he is holding a glass in his hand with trees in the background. The vase was made by master engraver and has extensive hand engraving on the surface. The vase measures 13” high x 6” wide x 6” deep and weighs approx. 1000 grams. There are three Persian hallmarks on the base of the vase as shown in the picture, which include the name of the artist and quality of silver.
