Description
This unique example of classic Mimbres III polychrome bowl is incredibly well-preserved. It is cracked and professionally repaired without any restoration whatsoever. The bowl is 6" in diameter and 3" deep. This extremely unusual museum piece is much more rare than the traditional black-on-white Mimbres ceramics. The bowl was acquired legally from an old trading post in the Southwest USA that was recently up for sale. The piece had been a part of the small museum in the old building and sat on a shelf for over 50 years. The interior of the bowl depicts a stylized lizard stalking a colorful grasshopper. The mineral pigment is still very clear and distinct. The bottom of the bowl exhibits carbon staining from cooking fires. I have been an archaeologist in the Southwest USA for over 20 years and I have never seen another intact Mimbres bowl such as this. I offer a full 14-day money-back guarantee as long as the item is returned undamaged. Full insurance and special shipping is available.
