This collection which originates from Belgium appears to have good age to it and some of the figures may even be late 19th Century. Please view also our other listings as tonight we are listing a total of 10 figures. The group photograph of the ten items together is for reference only. This auction is for the magnificent large and heavy Ambete Fang carved fetish figure from Gabon as seen in the images. It is in excellent condition with only a small amount of old damage to the left hand. This a most unusual and impressive figure. It appears to be made from a brown mahogany with the head and shoulders stained a darker colour. The front of the main torso appears to be painted with a stone substitute. The eyes are small shells and the teeth seem to be made of steel. There are brass studs to the crest on the top of the head. Of all the figures listed so far this is probably my favorite.
