Item:                  1950s era ANTIQUE patchwork quilt in an old pattern called Diamond on the Square -- and actually this is a Double Diamond, or a Diamond Within a Diamond pattern -- this is a BOLD BEAUTY with deep JEWEL-TONED colors and FABULOUS VISUALS -- one that can be displayed any time of year, but will be really nice for the upcoming fall/harvest season -- there are olive greens, burnt orange, cheddars, and cranberry reds -- this one is a real STUNNER -- well-worth your investment and will make a great addition to your collection -- don't miss it! Materials:           All vintage cottons -- nice-quality dress and shirting fabrics that really look new -- so most were probably purchased just for the creation of this quilt at the local fabric store -- or only unused fabric scraps were utilized -- narrowly banded in yellow cotton, and backed in the most GORGEOUS yellow and pink floral that you've ever seen -- this side would be a nice change of scenery in a cottage-style bedroom -- straight edges.  Batting:               Little or no batting -- if it's there, it's an extremely light layer of cotton or perhaps a sheeting fabric -- thin and light-weight -- even with the boldest of colors, it has an elegance about it -- probably made as a family heirloom or showpiece quilt. Handwork:         A mixture of hand and machine-piecing, and then totally hand-quilted in straight and diagonal rows at 5-6 small stitches per inch -- they really took their time on the piecing, measuring and matching points -- the quilting is not quite blue-ribbon, but it's nicely-executed. Size:                    71" x 86"  Condition:           Absolutely excellent near MINT condition -- clean, strong and sturdy -- light wear/gentle usage, if any, and really appears to have stored correctly for many years -- colors as crisp and vibrant as the day it was made -- everything intact -- edges are good -- batting is good -- maybe some light surface soil, and really saying that for good measure -- as good as it gets -- has EXCEPTIONAL display value, as you can see in the pics -- ready for your bed, stack it in your quilt cabinet, hang it over the door of your jelly cupboard -- or hang immediately as SPECTACULAR wall-art -- this is a STUNNING SHOW-STOPPER of a quilt!
