Description
ANTIQUE SAMPLER BERLIN WORK ~ circa 1880 ~ Greetings, friends. Today I am offering another early sampler.The verse is"Holy Angels Guard Thy Bed" and comes from my private collection.I love this one.... a child is asleep in their bed at the bottom center of the work. There are vines of green that surround the verse. The verse is worked in shades of red. No tears in the punched paper. There are water marks. All the threads that were worked are there although it appears that the word "Guard" was not ever worked but can clearly be read from the print on the paper. The threads are not faded. The overall size is 22 x 10 inches. The frame is walnut with a gilt liner. Backed with the original shingle board. The glass is original wavy glass. ~~~~~~~Thanks for visiting.
