ANTIQUE PEKING ART DECO CHINESE ORIENTAL RUG #6881 8X10 Click to View Image Album This late 19th century Peking Chinese rug measures 8 ‘ 1” x 9’ 6 “. Birds, birds, birds! The navy blue field is completely covered in rockeries, water features, and birds. There are ducks, peacocks, love birds, red headed Crane, Phoenix bird, and even an owl. The rug has a Greek key motif minor border in two shades of blue. The major border has a lighter blue ground with cartouches filled with horses, goats, bulls, two facing bunnies, dogs, two little mice, cat, and foo lions. In the center of the major border at either end is an area of orange in a fish scale motif. Very interesting. The rug is in good to excellent condition. The ends and sides are complete.
