Description
This is a vintage fluting iron crimper. I find no markings on it as to the maker. It has a wood hand crank, that does work. It is in very good used condition. Great antique piece. See the pictures. Enjoy viewing. This piece is very rare and you don't find so fine fluting on other crimper. I think it's a late 1800's piece, so i'm not sure that i can "date" it with no sign on it.it be very clean and all work very well.Godd luck and bid on you're chance to have a very unique piece of collection in you're home !That's an heavy piece in brass and iron. it operates by means of a hand crank which crimps the fabric as it transports it between the two fluted rollers. Machine fluters are also referred to as pleaters, or pleating irons, crimpers, crimping irons, or rufflers and came in a myriad of designs---some had pedestal or tripod bases, some were clamp-on models.
