The brass fronton  (face surround) has a design of birds or maybe peacocks.  One small tear on the side which would probably not even be seen.  The round white porcelain face is free of defects.  Also has a working calendar. The cabinet is beautifully carved and is made of walnut woods.  There is a small amount of walnut veneer along the top crown. French cabriole feet.  Vase of flowers carved on the lower section with floral and scrolls on the doors.  The top section has a glass insert.  There is no rotten wood.  Has its original weights and large brass pendulum with the image of Louis 14th, The Sun King.  Comes with the original winding key. The 8 day movement was just recently cleaned by a professional and in is excellent working condition.  This Morbier is somewhat unusual.  Instead of a bell or a gong which strikes the hour and half hour, this one has two bells and a gong.  There is a double bell ringing on the quarter and half hours and a gong which strikes the hour.  In my opinion the gonging is soft.
